Hany Shoukry
Dr. Hany Shoukry brings a wealth of experience from both the academic and practical realms of coaching. Originally from Egypt and now based in the UK, he is a coach, researcher, and a technology leader at a leading European media company. One of the earliest voices to advance a critical perspective within the coaching field, Dr. Shoukry has spent over a decade contributing to our understanding of how coaching intersects with social dynamics, particularly through his pioneering Coaching for Emancipation (CFE) framework. His research investigates how coaching both influences and is influenced by its social context. The CFE groundbreaking approach combines insights from education, psychotherapy, social work, and theatre to support individuals in breaking free from oppressive conditions.
Dr. Shoukry’s published work includes influential studies on social justice in coaching, such as “Coaching as a Social Process”, “Coaching for Social Change”, “Diversity in Coaching”, and “That’s Political: A Freirean Perspective Towards Coaching as a Social Practice”. He is also interested in the intersection of technology and coaching, especially the implications of artificial intelligence for the future of the field. He is also an Honorary Research Associate at Oxford Brookes University.
