Episode Summary:

In this episode of Coaching Revealed, IOC Podcast hosts Austin Matzelle and Emily Terrani interview Colleen Boselli, an executive coach with 25+ years of experience as a leader and coach who specializes in a strengths-based approach. Colleen details how to coach with a strengths-based approach, working with both individuals and teams. The episode covers the Strengths Profile methodology, which identifies strengths through three components: performing them well, gaining energy from their use, and performing them often.

Colleen began her career in marketing and advertising. After a cancer diagnosis, she transitioned to coaching to find more fulfillment in her career. Her love of self-help, paired with her strengths in empowerment and self-awareness, solidified coaching as the ideal career path for her.

Colleen delves into the Strengths Profile methodology, which organizes 60 strengths into four categories: realized strengths, unrealized strengths, learned behaviors, and weaknesses. By understanding these categories, individuals can better harness their strengths to achieve personal and professional growth. In talking with Emily and Austin, Colleen shares how individuals can work with their strengths as individuals, within teams, and how to respond if their strengths change.

As a coach, Colleen discusses her passion for the strengths-based approach, emphasizing the strengths-based research that shows layering four strengths can help individuals access flow states in their work. By developing awareness of one’s own strengths, individuals can better harness their strengths and tap into their realized strengths to make tasks more meaningful.
