She designs and teaches accredited programs on communication for major healthcare organizations, including Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, and Dignity Health, and she provides re-licensure activities for physicians at more than 40 hospitals and clinics in the U.S. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Pamela was the Executive Director of Jackson Orthopaedic Foundation, overseeing research and education programs at major hospitals in Northern California. She later joined the staff of the Immersive Learning Center at Stanford School of Medicine, where she continues to work. Pamela holds a credential in Continuing Professional Development for Healthcare Providers, and has authored more than a dozen Immersive Learning Programs for Medical and Mental Health Professionals. She’s collaborated on communication research at UCSF Institute for Health Policy Studies, Stanford Dept. of Psychology, and the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs. She was the Lead Coach for Doctor Communication on a 3-year study by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. Pamela is a dedicated advocate for the use of Coaching Science in Physician Communication Training. She’s been an invited speaker at national and international conferences, and a guest lecturer at medical schools in the U.S. and Europe. Her passion and deepest joy is one-on-one coaching with physicians and healthcare executives. In 2019 Pamela was recognized by the Patient Experience Institute as a “Leader influencing the systems, processes, and behaviors that cultivate positive experiences for patients across the continuum of care.” Pamela is a Fellow at the Institute of Coaching, and a specialist in Communication Coaching for Physicians.
