Introducing the first truly evidence-based study of coaching effectiveness

If you are interested in bolstering your coaching practice with serious, well-documented and academically rich research – now is your chance to learn, discuss, and grow!

The aim of this experimental randomized control trial study was to contribute to the development of a comprehensive coaching outcome effectiveness model.  Researchers tested the contribution of a range of influential factors, including quality of coaching relationship, self-efficacy, outcome expectancy, hope and perceived social support.  All of these were studied as they correlate with coaching outcomes such as goal attainment, perceived stress, psychological wellbeing and resilience.

Research indicated that coaching interventions can be impactful in statistically significant ways. The coaching seems to be improving psychological wellbeing and reducing perceived stress by improving clients’ resilience.  This study is the first-of-its-kind—a randomized, controlled, trial—to be added to the coaching literature.   In this highly accessible and rich review of the research, the researchers will discuss the framing of the research design, the data collection procedures (including how they managed to achieve high response rates over all 8 data points) as well as preliminary findings—and most importantly: implications for practice.
