Today, as coaching emerges as a truly science-based profession, it is becoming clear that self-actualization can be used as a key organizing principle for all of the dimensions that support human thriving, aligning with other developmental models and serving as an evidence-based core, or nucleus, on which coaches can support clients in their quest towards thriving, meaning, balance, joy and well-being. In this updated research, psychologist Scott Barry Kaufman took on the task of bringing Maslow’s work into the 21st century — and providing empirical evidence that as far back as 1950 — Maslow was on the right track.
