Jonathan has a Ph.D. in psychological anthropology and has been coaching and consulting in related contexts for over 15 years. Now focussing on transformational life coaching, he has worked with clients in and from Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jordan, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and the USA. An Accredited Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation, he is currently President-elect for the ICF Arkansas-Oklahoma Chapter,  a Genos International Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner, and continues to pursue advanced training and certifications in Group Coaching, Somatic Coaching, and Positive Psychology Coaching. 

Professionally, Jonathan also works as an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Arkansas, is a founding steering committee member for the Medical Humanities program (MEDH), and affiliate faculty in Gender Studies. His academic interests including issues of performance, embodiment, identity, and gender, with some of his most popular courses focussing on Culture & Medicine and Body & Identity. He is also Director of the VIS Lab (vision.image.sense), and a former President of both the Society for Visual Anthropology and the Society for Humanistic Anthropology. His academic publications include four books, as well as a variety of chapters in edited volumes, articles, and encyclopedia entries.

Bridging his academic and coaching expertise, Jonathan recently presented on "Powerful Questions in Cross-Cultural Coaching and Consulting" at the Society for Applied Anthropology's 2021 annual meeting.
