During his early banking career, Philipp completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration at the Higher College of Commerce BL in Switzerland, while working as a financial analyst and loan officer serving small- to midsize companies. He quickly learned organizational performance depends on leadership, shifting his curiosity to the function of systems and the human side of performance.
This led him to move to San Diego, California, to earn his master and doctorate degrees in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Alliant International University. Studying behaviors, systems and dynamics in organizational settings, his special research interests focused on the Effects of Optimism on Goal Setting Performance. In addition, he co-authored research on Airline Station Performance as a Function of Employee Satisfaction, presented at the 16th Annual Conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and published in the Journal of Quality Management.
Dr. Philipp D. Werenfels is a member of several professional organizations in America and Switzerland: the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Arbeits - und Organisations Psychologie (SGAOP), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the World Institute for Action Learning (WIAL) as well as a Founding Fellow of the Institute of Coaching (IOC).
