Coaching Science

Coaching science is the scientific foundation that underpins the work of all professional coaches. The translation of science into coaching practice is the life force of the Institute of Coaching. The broad and deep scientific foundation includes basic and applied research, theories and models, that support or inform coaching practices. We organized our Coaching Science resources into a few categories:

  1. Coaching Theories and Models - the most valuable theories and models deployed by coaches.
  2. Coaching Research - study of coaching protocols and outcomes.
  3. Human Performance Science - research and theoretical models supporting optimal performance in life and work.
  4. Neuroscience - research and theoretical models supporting optimal physical and mental health and well-being.
  5. Mental & Physical Health - research and theoretical models supporting optimal physical and mental health and well-being.
