The field of coaching is at an inflection point. What got us here is not what will get us where we need to be next. In this seminar, David will draw on his 25 years as a pioneering coach educator and his report for the Institute of Coaching on The Five Maturities as a new paradigm for developing coaches. It is your opportunity to dive into some fundamental and provocative questions about how and why we do what we do. Come join us for dialogues around what the world needs from coaching now and what that means for your future. At the center is an invitation to deepen our humanity so we can support others to do the same.
As a participant, you will have opportunities to explore and experience:
- An approach to achieve greater maturity and mastery as a coach
- A framework to align your coaching with the evidence on outcomes
- A set of resources to design your future as a human and a coach

Surveying the landscape around us
We will explore three challenges for coaching as it continues to grow and what this means for you. These include the need for clearer distinctions (e.g., what is ‘coaching’?), freedom from old frames holding us back, and new forms that will serve us better now. We will also explore why we need to move beyond competency models, the critical role of maturity in developing ourselves as coaches, and how to align our coaching with the evidence for what works for better results.
Where are we now? What questions are being asked of us?

Packing for a new future
We will explore three critical shifts in how we develop ourselves as coaches and what this means for how we work. This includes why competency is just one of The Five Masteries, why maturity is increasingly the most significant factor in your success (and how The Five Maturities can help you), and why iBEAM is vital as a systemic approach to your client’s development (and why this is key). You will leave with a clear sense of what you have and what you need to design a more integrative practice fit for these times.

Creating the path as we walk it
We will explore The Five Maturities Framework as a guide for designing your future in coaching and The Five Maturities Matrix as a guide for developing yourself to live into that future. It reflects a shift from development as consumption to development as consciousness (enlightened pragmatism). We will explore the impact of AI and technology as well as the global challenges we face as opportunities to rethink the path we are on as coaches. It is an invitation to become artisans of a new craft as mature practitioners collectively shaping a new future for coaching and for ourselves.
