Daphne Y. Jefferson is an executive coach, speaker and consultant with over 20 years of experience as a senior executive with the Federal government. She is passionate about helping leaders to gracefully navigate the challenges of transitions. As a coach, she has worked with dozens of leaders at every level of government, the private sector, nonprofit organizations, and academia. Daphne is a noted speaker and has given keynote addresses on leadership, transportation and technology for government, private sector and nonprofit organizations. She has appeared on CBS This Morning and has testified in the United States House of Representatives. Daphne served as Deputy Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) from February 2015 until November 2017, leading an organization with over 1,100 employees across the United States. She previously served as the Counselor to the Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration for DOT. She also held executive leadership positions with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Traffic Control Service. Daphne is a passionate executive coach dedicated to helping senior leaders, emerging leaders and high potentials thrive in today’s fast-paced environment. She is adept at developing a strong coaching relationship based on trust, candor, clear goal setting, and accountability. Daphne holds a Master’s in Public Administration from American University and served as a Brookings Institution Legislative Fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives. She holds a Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership and is an ACC certified coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF). In addition, Daphne is the recipient of the 2016 Presidential Meritorious Rank Award and the 2017 Influential Woman in Trucking Award. Daphne lives in the Washington, DC area with her husband. She enjoys travel and is a jewelry artist and metalsmith.
